Topic | Outlet mall incentives |
Content | Oklahoma leaders need to explore possible ways to attract retail outlet malls to non-metro areas - communities over less than 25,000. Missouri, Texas, Colorado, and other states have been extremely successful in attracting Oklahoma shopping dollars to these venues. I do not know if they have favorable tax policy or other incentives that are bringing these businesses to their states. The only retail provider in many rural areas is Walmart. I am not being critical of Walmart, but I believe we are missing a potential to bring new dollars into Oklahoma and providing better retail opportunities in small communities around the state if we could attract retail outlet malls. |
